FABLE & FOLKTALE COLLECTION
These patterns were inspired by the unforgettable fables attributed to Aesop, as well as the Slavic Folktale, Baba Yaga. Heavy in morals and a rather 70’s colorway, these patterns depict the story and ambiguity as all over prints, and as a placement design. In the Fox and Crow, the sly fox compliments the crow on his singing voice, thus encouraging him to sing, thereby dropping the cheese. In the Tortoise and Hare, the hare is overly confident in his speed, takes a nap mid race, allowing the turtle to bypass him and win. In Baba Yaga, the old woman is sometimes portrayed as a kindly figure who helps unfortunate souls, and sometimes portrayed as a witch who eats children!
